  • In view of the uncertainty regarding his identity, the dates and places of birth and death recorded above may be incorrect - Ed.
  • Descendants have a certificate issued by Anderson's University Glasgow to "Donald McDonald" for a course in midwifery 23 April 1830, and three similar certificates
  • "British King" shipping list (Judy Webster, refs) includes Donald McDonald, Isle of Mull, surgeon aged 28 and wife aged 20
  • A list of burials at Fort William, Calcutta, includes Donald McDonald surgeon died 27 March 1866 aged 52 (Judy Webster, refs)
  • The burial record implies birth year c1813, the shipping record c1810
  • Both these possible years of birth rule out his identity with Donald McDonald (1) LFPSG 1830 as it was necessary to be aged 21 to get a licence to practice medicine
